Auntie Val Visits the Pumpkin Patch '10

It happens once in a blue moon! We get family to visit us! This time we got Auntie Valerie for a few days. Just for the record it was in the 70's and totally beautiful!!! Val and Randy did a little golf, I got her to one of my zumba classes and a group strength class (making the use of her arms for driving difficult - but worth it).

One day we took her to a pumpkin patch. There was a ton of stuff to do at this place and we had it pretty much to ourselves. High lights were the corn maze, corn pit and tire jumping.

Auntie Valerie got involved with Acacia's violin lessons ...

... but after a couple days it was too much for her to take.

And, here is a little video of Chris getting out of the corn after being burried in it!!

Cub Scout Family Fun Day '10

Since we are not busy enough we decided to sign Chris up for Cub Scouts. Actually, I think this will be really good for Chris. So, we will see. His first outing as a scout was to a family fun day at one of the scout camps.

First of the list of family fun was ... shooting a bee bee gun and a bow and arrow! Since it was "family" fun day, Acacia was allowed to join in!

They did all kinds of other stuff. They made animal tracks, messed around with snakes, we went on a little trail hike and of course the tomahawk toss, long pointing spear thingy toss and the climbing wall!

um - Acacia tossing a tomahawk ...

Do these helmets make our heads look big??

Another Patio Party w/Band '10

Our second patio party went well ... until the cops showed up. More on that in a mintue.

The party officially started with a few golfers. 5 to be exact. They made good use of the 4-5 holes that are on our side of the street. I think they played the same 4-5 holes at least 3 times making beer pit stops at our back yard each time them pasted. Each time they passed they parked the carts at the edge of the yard. Acaica and her friend went out to do a little test driving ....

The Badgers started around 2:30p - about the same time the first wave of food was served. They pulled out the win (one point) after a pretty could go either way game.

We had a band play (Merge Left). They were AWESOME!! Rock covers! Songs we all knew. Very cool. We had called and invited and asked all our neighbors if the band would be a problem and they all said go for it. We called the local police and they said as long as the neighbors are fine there should not be a problem. They started playing around 5p. About an hour later ... the first cop shows up. He said a neighbor complained. I was a bit surprised given that half the neighbors were out back and the rest had given us their blessings. Turns out it was the neighbors on the other side of the golf course that were upset. The cop asked how long we planned on having them play. We explained it would not go later then 7:30p. He said fine, just turn it down. So we did but apparently that was not good enough for said neighbors. The cops came back around 6:50p. Seems they could not stand it for another 40 minutes. So, the band packed up and we continued the party with our 4 blasting radio speakers.

Anyway - it was still cool. The food was all good. The fire pit was rocking again as well. Acacia found these ginormous marshmellows for s'mores that proved to actually be too much marshmellow. But, they still got eaten!!! Go figure! mmmmmmmmm!!

Sorry! Sound quality not soooooo good. :(

Some Soccer '10

The new soccer season started up with games starting last week end. Acacia is now on an all girls team. Their first game they got crushed 0-8 because the girls were making really dumb mistakes (centering the ball in front of their own goal ALL the time). Acacia was really discouraged and actually said she would rather be back on the boys team as at least they knew how to play. Coach added another practice to the week and they have had 2 more games. A tie and lost again but it was 1-3. They are playing MUCH better now. You can hear them on the field yelling at each other to correct the mistakes they make and also cheering each other on when they make good plays. I think they will end up being a pretty strong team.

Chris' team actually plays pretty well but I only have the team photos. Sorry! No action shots. But, as you can see by how Chris is in the team photos - you should be able to tell how he is on the field.

Got some actions shots ....

SWEET! He got a goal!!
