School Dance Party '11

The kid's school had a dance on Friday. Chris initially said he wanted to go but a friend invited him to sleep over. So, the dance was trumped with the sleep over. I am actually kind of bummed because Chris has taken on some very interesting dance moves lately. Kind of a cross between break dancing and the River Dance, with a couple karate moves tossed in for good measure. But, Acacia did want to go so off we went. Parents were not allowed to drop off their kids, we had to stay. BUT, the kids had their own rules which were that the parents stayed as far away from the kids as humanly possible and certainly NO picture taking. Well, I am sure you know there is no way I can sit there and not take a picture. In the most sneaky way I know how, I tried to maneuver my body around the gym and try to snap a few, but Acacia must have had some GPS tracking device on me as she would turn her back to wherever I was standing, no matter how close or far away I was to her. Finally, I just started snapping away in hopes of getting a couple. In the end, she actually let me approach and take one with her friend.

Although I do not have proof of this, Acacia spent a bit of time talking with a boy from her swim team.  They also spend a lot of time talking together at swim meets.  hmmmmmm

Towards the end of the dance, the DJ had them lined up doing a train dance.  He also had them doing the chicken dance we often see at weddings.

The photos shows a friend of ours (Packer shirt).  We were watching him a bit this night.

Here he is again.  Not sure about his dance style - maybe this was the mash pit??

Luke's Dedication '11

Our friends Matt and Gail dedicated their baby son, Luke and we got to witness. So, if they start messing up, we have the right to correct them!! :) Somehow, I think they will do just fine without any help from us! Luke has an awesome big sister (Adia) to help out too!!

WRESTLING!!!

Randy is bound and determine to find any sport that Chris will be good at. We've tried soccer (likes), basket ball (give or take), base ball (give), ice hockey (likes to skate but not actually play), karate (likes) and now wresting. Oh - and cub scouts and I am insisting that he learn to swim (not compete but just have the life saving skill). Chris is pretty spindly and for sure one of the smallest kids in his class. He does not care much for physical contact or really sports in general. He just loves his "games". Enter wrestling. Once again, he seems indifferent. His first tournament he ended up loosing all three matches (at least one to a girl). Second tournament he won one (a pin) but lost the other two. But, yesterday ... he won all three. I guess this is a big deal as he actually won a trophy and got to have his photo taken on the winners blocks. This was pretty cool! I learned more about wrestling in that one day then any sport I've ever watched. Two things I learned not to do are a full nelson and locking my hands around my opponent while he/she is down on the mat. Chris received penalty points for these maneuvers. So, he seems to be enjoying wresting at this point. I wish the tournaments were better organized. There is a LOT of waiting around in wrestling. I thought swim meets were bad ... Anyway, here are some photos and movie clips for your enjoyment!

Getting his game face on.
Warm Ups!

weigh in ...
Are you loving the sniglet thing yet?
Ready?  Wrestle!!

Oh ... Chris is in the orange and black singlet thingy.
The WINNERS blocks!!!
That is the bracket that he won in his hand.
This trophy is kind of freaky to me but he is proud of it!

I think this was the pin he got.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2011

We celebrated NYE with two other couples and their kids at our house. Just chilled, ate and drank. We actually all pretty much made it to midnight! This also proved to give me the opportunity to wear my new shirt ... without having to leave the house.

My NEW shirt!!!  Thoughts???

First Ski Trip of the Season '10

The kids went on a field trip tubing at the ski hill so Randy and I and some other friends took advantage of some more difficult ski "hills". We joined the kids for lunch and then all skied the rest of the day. What a perfect day for skiing! Temps in the 20's and sunny! We skied from 10:30a until about 6:30p!

Chris did not like the lift lines.  They were long but moved pretty fast.  That is Chris laying on his back.

This is Acacia and her friend on the chair lift.

I was hoping to get the entire family in  one shot but by this time the one family had left and my friend had her rental skies taken by someone who obviously thought they were theirs so she was done skiing for the night.

So, it took two pictures to get us all!

Sledding '10

After asking about 14 times if the kids wanted to go sledding and always getting a no answer ... Chris comes upstairs and says he wants to go sledding! Quick! Put on your gear! Let's go!!!

Back at home!  It's a haul walking through 2+ feet of snow to get to the sledding hill!

Some of us weathered better then others.

In the end, the kids had enough.

Randy and I went in and left them ....
