Today we went to see the last WBB game of the season. It was pretty cool. There was this lady at half time who did holla hoops, like 50 at a time. My friends Kelsey and Carson got their photo with Bucky too! I have the best friends ever!
My mom had to wake me up this AM to get ready to go to my friend Carson's 6th birthday party! We went roller skating!! It was soooo cool! I fell on my butt a lot but so did everyone else (except Rachel). She just skated around and around and around, without ever falling. The party room glowed in the dark! It was AWESOME!
Here I am with Carson. Wizzy is sneaking up behind us!
This is Rachel. She just kept skating around and around and around.
Cool glow in the dark affects! I am the 4th one in on the right.
This is Carson and her cool feather boa. It glowed the best!
February 13th, 2007. I LOST MY FIRST TOOTH! How cool! It came out in music class. I got to go to the nurse's office and she gave me a little plastic box shaped like a tooth for me to put my tooth in and then I could wear it like a necklace.
Mom here. She was more embarrassed then excited. Not really sure why. She did not want to show anyone or talk about it. When she woke up this AM I asked if the tooth fairy came. She just looked at me and and shrugged her shoulders and said, "Well, I don't know." I told her to check under her pillow but she did not want me to watch. I turned and she kind of stuck her hand under the pillow and felt around but would not actually pick the pillow up. The tooth fairy left her a note and 4 shiny quarters. She was not impressed but was happy to have more money.
Maybe the next tooth will be more exciting! If not, this could be a long road. How many teeth do kids have? 20?? Sigh ....
Every Sat AM there are free kids shows at the Overture Center for the Performing arts. This past Sat I took the kids to see a little magic show. We were joined by our friends Brenna and Braden. Braden is 2 and called the center the Ovary Center! The kids thought the show was great. The parents thought this one was a little hokey.
Acacia finally officially turned 6 on Thursday and my best friend Kathy turned ... well something more then 6! How cool that they are birthday buddies!! We went to the Nitty Gritty birthday bar. The birthday girls got balloons and birthday mugs with all you can drink kiddie cocktail and .... mountain dew?? I am not really sure what Kathy was drinking! We had a grand dinner and fabulous chocolate cake as a surprise by Kathy's roommate Sabrina! Many thanks for the cake! Remember you can click on a photo to see it bigger.
Look closely. You'll see Acacia's name at the end of the list and Kathy's just a few above it.
Balloon animals ... this is supposed to be a mermaid but Acacia untwisted her legs.
Chris got a reindeer ... and loved it.
Mmmmm! Cake!
Don't try to count the candles. I don't think the correct number were really put on anyway!
Today we woke up to more snow so we decided to go bowling! Well, sort of. Acacia's birthday party was at the bowling lanes. This is her first non Madtown Twisters birthday and it was a success! All I had to do was make the cake! This year Acacia selected the gum ball machine cake. This looked to be pretty easy until the search for gum balls ended with dumping $5 into an actual gum ball machine to get the big colored gum balls out. So, here are the photos from the grand event. Click the link to see all the photos from the party. One good thing about bowling photos is that you don't have to worry too much about dealing with red eye.
Acacia and I had Martin Luther King Jr. Day off so we decided to go skiing. Dad decided to join us. It was the first snow we got pretty much all year and it snowed the entire time we were skiing. We all got to try out our new skies and a great time was had by all! Then, we joined up with Chris' friend Alex (Superman from the Trick or Treat entry) and Alex's dad, Matt and went sledding. Randy took my old skies and mounted them to the bottom of one of our sleds. We had the sled of death complete with no breaks! Again, a great time prevailed!
All dressed and ready to go!
On the chair lift!
At the top! It sure is cold and windy!
All ready for sledding!
Making the big trek up the mountain! This is Matt and Alex, Randy, Chris and Acacia at the top of the sledding hill. This is the same but mom got in the shot!
This is Alex and his super fast snow tube! Acacia got wiped out by other people coming down the hill ... a couple times. The best time was when mom and Chris took her out!
Chris was pretty wiped out by the end of the event. All I did was poke his chest and ...
this happened! Everyone got their second wind when they discovered this baby hill.
Just a little movie clip of the second wind the kids got.
And another one.
King of the hill.
Matt was pretty beat after lugging the sleds up the hill with the kids in them a few times. Mom, Acacia and Chris are kings of the hill now! Here we all are. Ready to go to lunch!
Can you believe it's January in Wisconsin and all our ski areas are closed? The temps have been in the 40's and even reaching the 50's. We had planned a family ski week end for this week end but we had to cancel. Soooooo - we went ice skating. The Kaji's joined us and everyone had a great time. Ellie and Ethan stole the show with their laps around the ice hand in hand. Way too cute!! Unfortunately I did not get a photo of that. Watching the Zamboni was also a huge hit.
Emme and Nono arrived (with no luggage) on Dec 20th to some very excited grandkids! Emme was wheeled out in a wheel chair as her computer bag exploded and there was no other way to carry everything off the plane. Emme and Lisa did some last minute shopping, the kids had dentist appts, Randy worked and Nono took care of Nita!! But, finally the big day came!! Christmas eve we were getting ready for Santa (cookies, milk and carrots) ... when all of a sudden we heard Santa (Dad) on the roof! Complete with bells, reindeer and hohohos!! Acacia FREAKED!! She bolted upstairs and under the covers! Chris freaked but more in the "out" kind of way. This went on for about 10 minutes before Acacia finally decided she should sleep with Chris to "keep him calm". We have the greatest video of this event below. Once you click the play button you will most likely have to wait a minute or two as this is a REALLY big file. The second video below is of opening day. Again, pretty big. Lastly is a link to the photos of opening day ... Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for all the great stuff!!
Acacia took a tumble and hurt her ankle Christmas night so everyone but Nono spent over 3 hours at the immediate care clinic to get Acacia checked out. She got her ankle x-rayed but there was no one available to read it. They splinted her ankle and told us to call back in a couple days for the results. This puts a serious damper on our skating, skiing and water parking plans. Soooo - we went to see the movie Happy Feet and then to our Christmas Train Show. Below are some photos and you can also click the link to see all photos. Oh - we called back today and her ankle is just sprained. But, it is still swollen so we are not sure what we will be doing tomorrow.... :(
Lucky for us, Acacia's friend Rachel invited us all to join them at the museum for an exhibit on the History of Toys. It was pretty entertaining walking back in time to be reminded of the games and toys we all played with and how many are still around ... only better. The kids enjoyed this but I think the adults got more out of it. Acacia's ankle finally started to show signs of heeling, so what better way to celebrate then to spend the day at a water park?? Countless hours were spent climbing, sliding, playing and just relaxing in the hot tubs. Dad (my Dad) even went on the "big" rides with me after doing the smaller ones with the kids!! A grand time was had by all. The next day was spent shopping with Emme and Nono while Randy and I spent probably the first hours ever since our kids were born alone in our house. I cleaned, while Randy napped. What is wrong with us??? For New Years Eve we all went to the Monona Terrace here in Madison. They have great blow up jumpers, climbers and slides for the kids and even mini golf. We watched the Fabulous Rick Wilcox Magic Show staring, non other then .... Randy Learish. Randy was locked into a contraption that seconds earlier chopped a carrot in half. He was to be beheaded but I guess the trick did not work? Or, perhaps it did work?? Acacia was NOT happy to have her Dad up there having his head cut off but Chris thought it was pretty darn neat and wanted to go up next so he could disappear. A great show!! On to the live music and dancing and then another hour on the blow up jumpers. At 2 minutes before midnight I was sitting right here working on this very post, when Randy called to say it's nearly midnight. So, off I ran to sit next to my husband and watch the ball drop ... well, a rerun of the ball drop. What ever happened to the dancing and partying until 2a?? Luckily, neither one of us really miss it!! Hope everyone had a great New Years and you are all looking forward to 2007.
